Our Dispute Resolution Practice and our Securities Broking and Dealing Practice represented the Hong Kong office of one of the largest stock brokers in Asia in connection with a client dispute. • advising on the merits of the claim and the possibility of mediation and settlement, including representing the client brokerage firm in settlement negotiations

  • conduct of pre-action communications

  • providing guidance on arbitral procedure including the Arbitration Ordinance and the [HKIAC Administered Arbitration Rules] and negotiating the procedures and timetable for the arbitration

  • reviewing and advising on the statement of claim and preparing the statement of defence in response

  • conducting discovery

  • preparing witness statements

  • coordinating with senior counsel

  • attending the arbitral hearing before the arbitrator
