Since the financial crisis in 2008, there have been increased calls for regulators around the world to hold individuals, rather than just firms, accountable for misconduct. In Hong Kong, the Securities and Futures Commission ("SFC") has officially declared that individual wrongdoer accountability is now an enforcement priority. The declaration has been accompanied over the past couple of years by increased direct enforcement action against directors of listed companies as well as responsible officers. With the introduction in December, 2016 of the Manager-in-Charge regime, it appears that the SFC is set to further increase focus on individuals, whether licensed or not, at licensed firms as well as the firms themselves as part of its disciplinary process.
Please join us for this lunch time seminar as we discuss the evolving focus on individual liability and how the change may affect not only front line supervisory staff but also back and middle office supervisors.
This seminar is intended for senior business executives, in-house lawyers and compliance professionals at SFC regulated entities.
This seminar includes a buffet style lunch with choice of hot entrees.
