Insurance Authority continues coordinating with the industry to provide assistance to people affected by Wang Fuk Court fire with insurance payouts exceeding $257 million

On 19 December 2025, the Insurance Authority ("IA") is actively coordinating with the insurance industry to support individuals affected by the Wang Fuk Court fire. Total insurance payouts have exceeded $257 million.

In life insurance, 10,660 policies held by 36 insurers have led to 149 claims. Of these, 109 claims have been settled amounting to $41.5 million, with an additional 40 claims being processed, totaling an estimated $11.8 million.

For general insurance, 1,800 policies held by 35 insurers have resulted in 1,038 claims, with a total payout of approximately $204 million.

The Chief Executive Officer of the IA, Clement Cheung, underscores the IA's dedication to improving industry relief measures. Additionally, the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Federation of Insurers, Selina Lau, highlighted that insurance companies swiftly arranged special disbursements, providing over $250 million in compensation to the victims.
